Valentine's Day Dinner 2012

D and I dined in on Valentine's Day. I have a difficult time justifying the expensive food, the late seatings, and the hoards of people that you have to deal with if you want to dine out on holidays such as that one, so I suggested we prepare and eat our meal in the comfort of his home instead.

The menu was inspired a bit by local ingredients as well as whatever just sounded good to me. I also took a look at what some of my favorite local restaurants were offering, and used their menus as inspiration. I came up with this:

1. Roasted citrus salad, served with avocado on a bed of fresh spinach

2.  Mushroom and garlic risotto with truffle oil, served with braised and roasted Brussels sprouts

3. Chocolate-dipped strawberries
