Product Review: Papa G's Organic Tofu

I already teased you a few weeks ago, when I said that within a weekend, D and I ate three packages of flavored tofu from one local company. And you got to see a picture:

This doesn't even give the tofu justice, but lemme just tell you right here and right now: this stuff will absolutely ROCK your world.

Now, here is the very sad news: it's only sold in Portland, Oregon.

So, if you're hoping to get some in, say, Dallas or Brighton, you are unfortunately out of luck. However, I'd still like to share this product with you because I know that quite a large population of international vegans recently visited Portland, and who knows who might be planning another trip?

I offer to you the only tofu you will want to eat while you're here: Papa G's Organic Tofu.

We tried the Original Recipe flavor and the BBQ flavor. The Original was fine on its own, but we sauteed it in toasted sesame oil, and the flavor seriously just popped. The BBQ flavor needed absolutely no extra "help". We ate it as "bacon" during breakfast, and then again for dinner in our pasta dish. It's just the right amount of sweet and spicy and smokey, and the tofu is already pre-pressed, so it gets nice and crispy in the pan after just a few minutes.

Basically what I'm trying to say is: if you live in Portland, you have got to try this. If you don't, then it's a great reason to come and visit. I've done my share of food pilgrimages, so I wouldn't hold it against you.
