Farm to Table: Apples
Apples are delicious. Who can deny that fact? To me, they signify fall: crisp mornings, bright sunshine during the day, and cool evenings. Likewise, apples (at least the ones I prefer) are crunchy, sweet and brightly colored, emulating one of my favorite seasons.
There are so many ways to add apples into your diet during the year. Because I prefer to eat seasonally, I usually eat apples during the fall and winter, but not as much (if at all) during the other months. That means, my apples are either eaten in my bowl of hot oatmeal, in some muffins, or in a warm baked dessert.
Just recently, one of my very favorite blogs (Gluten-Free Goddess) posted a recipe on a delicious gluten-free and vegan apple crisp. Since fall just began and apples are popping up all over the place, I knew it was time to try out this crisp.
What a great idea. It was delicious and sweet, and enough to give two people leftovers for a few days.
Check out the fantastic recipe here.
