I love trying new restaurants, and meeting up with someone who's visiting the area is a great excuse and chance to do so.
Last night, I met up with Twitter friend @bookie85 at Green Wok, a vegetarian Chinese restaurant located in SW Portland. I never, ever, ever, ever (never!) venture into that area of town, so going there felt a little like being a tourist in my own city.
However, the food was delicious, and the waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with my gluten intolerance. He even gave me a soy sauce that was completely gluten-free without me asking.
We shared the Corn and Tofu Soup, Sweet and Sour Chicken (with soy curls), and the Vegi Roll (with asparagus instead of mushrooms, because of the gluteny marinade). Overall, the dinner was delicious, filling, and made me want to possibly venture into that area again.
a bowl of soup - it reminded me of egg drop soup and corn chowder mixed together |
