Who Can Concentrate When It's Snowy Outside?
This post is, shall we say, less focused on food today, and for obvious reasons. I mean, c'mon, who can concentrate when it's snowy outside? It's like this city breaks down and turns everybody into little [and crazy] children again!
Our brains seriously evolve...against the normal progression. Below are thoughts that almost every Portlander had at some point yesterday, as the weather began to change:
"I have a lot of work to do today."
"Oh look, there's a snowflake. I hope I will be able to get everything done."
"Oh, the snow might be sticking. I don't really have so much to do."
"Hmmm, it's white outside, I think I should be out there instead."
"OH MY GOD! IT'S SNOWING IT'S SNOWING IT'S SNOWING!"
And, really, who can blame us [the entire city of Portland]? It snows just about once a year here, and we just don't know how to properly react. I don't mind snow, but I seem to always need to be at work when it happens, so it presents quite a challenge. Portlanders really drive strangely when there's white powder on the ground. If it weren't so life-threatening, it would be pretty humorous.
Oh, well. It always offers a nice break from the normal, everyday humdrum of life. So, I guess I will be glad that school doesn't start until 10 a.m. today, allowing me to spend one more half hour in bed.
Also, I really need ideas for Thanksgiving. Anybody have a favorite recipe you think I should try?
