I know I've reviewed them before, but Deschutes Brewery really does earn a second (or third, or fourth...) mention. They are just awesome. They are located in the perfect spot downtown, just down the street from Powell's, and they have such a large seating space that they can fit tons of people in. Which is good, because many people want to eat there. I took my mother there last night and, amazingly, there was no wait, but as I looked around, I noticed that almost every table was full of 4-tops. My former visits have had me waiting at least 15 minutes for a table.
The wood carvings are beautiful; as you're waiting for your food to arrive, you can look almost anywhere and have something wonderful to see. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and knowledgeable; special requests are always accepted. Oh yeah, and the food is fantastic. It's much more than traditional bar-like fare, and, as I've mentioned before, it's locally produced and harvested. And did I mention they are the only local producers of gluten-free beer?!
What isn't there to like about Deschutes? I have gone there about 10 times now and have NEVER had a bad experience. Now, if only they would move to the east side so I could go even more often!
