Currently Abstaining

I've been feeling waay too dependent upon sweets and coffee lately, so I've decided to kind of "give up" both for an indefinite amount of time. I did this last year, and I felt so much better (I also gave up alcohol last year, but I don't know if that would be as easy, socially, this year) after just a short amount of time. I am still drinking caffeinated teas, but they are just black and green teas, so it's natural caffeine. Chocolate is completely out, and I'm thinking about trying to remove all sugar. We shall see about that one, especially since I love to bake, but I'm sure there are other options out there for natural sweeteners.

On an aside, with my last batch of vegan chocolate chip cookies, I used Bob's Red Mill vegetarian egg replacer. It made the best vegan cookies I've had thus far, and I've tried so many different recipes, so I thought I had finally found the perfect one. However, I had the worst stomachaches, headaches, and heartburn since I had become a vegan, and I finally looked at the ingredients: wheat gluten (which, in large quantities, I'm sensitive to) and corn syrup solids (yuck!), plus two other seemingly innocuous items (I can't remember them because they didn't stand out to me). I'm so mad right now, because I thought I could really make cookies that even non-vegans would appreciate, but I can never eat them, so what's the point? Any thoughts on other egg replacements that do the trick just as well??
