toxic chemicals

Whew! I was cleaning a family friend's house this afternoon, and I was relegated to using her cleaning supplies. I thought I was going to die. Seriously. She had a powdered bleach for her sink, a noxious gel cleaner for her other sink, and some awful spray foam for her toilets. It was disgusting. I gave up man-made cleaners about a year ago, when my sister queried about my so-called green stance and the fact that I was still cleaning with Lysol. I'm glad she put me straight, because now I know just what I've been "missing". Blech. Especially on a day like today, which was so sunny and beautiful, and it was extremely warm inside the house, so I really felt like I was suffocating. Moral of this story: don't use man-made cleaning products! There are so many great, natural things out there that can clean the heck out of your household: vinegar, baking soda, etc. Try swapping out one item that came from the cleaning aisle with your own concoction, and I bet you'll notice a cleaner, fresher-smelling, and healthier home in no time!
